Philosophy
We believe that Taekwondo is an evolving art that requires dedication and motivation to constantly improve in all areas. Therefore, we rely and employ these following guidelines which have also made us the best place for practicing Taekwondo.
I. Non-Political
Our school views Taekwondo solely as a distinct art form, not related to any political matters, for we have devoted ourselves to its teachings and practices. Any person who shares similar views are welcome to participate and learn to be a martial artist who specializes in Taekwondo.
II. Complete System
We teach Taekwondo as a complete system. This includes kicks, punches, hand and foot blocks, sweeps, joint locks, grappling, and throws, as well as sport Taekwondo. Some students may choose to specialize in one or more specific areas, but the school will always provide classes on all aspects of Taekwondo.
III. Analytic Approach
We strongly encourage technical discussions between students and instructors in our school. It is vital to understand why a technique has to be done in a certain way as any technique used by a martial artist is usually based on sound physical principles and a logic.
IV. A Home for Martial Arts
We hope every member of the J H Kim Taekwondo Institute to view the dojang his/her home as a martial art practitioner. We welcome their coming at any time, and for any reason there be.
V. Our Shared Values
We believe and abide by these dojang principles:
- Improvement of Mind and Body
- Ethical Self-Conduct
- Unity Among Members
